Trading Habits

Trading an Old Habit of Worrying
for a new Habit of Praying

“Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a center of fear.” ~ Corrie ten Boom.

Truth be told, I spent much of today worrying about something. Initially, I didn’t even realize I was worrying. I was busy getting some mindless things done for Thanksgiving when I suddenly realized I had spent pretty much the entire morning worrying. I could have spent the same amount of time praying, but I didn’t.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) says. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ:”

Taking every thought captive for Christ — that’s what I want to do — and what I pray for you as well. Worrying about problems gets us nowhere. If we can summon up the self-discipline to force ourselves to trade our worrisome thoughts for prayerful thoughts, then we can tap into the greatest Power — the Power of our Creator and our God.

If you spent time worrying today, please know that you are not alone. I was right there with you, but tomorrow is a new day.

Let us pray and ask God to grant us the self-discipline to stop the whirling, worrisome thoughts and turn our inefficient thoughts into a conversation with Him.

Lord, hear our prayers. Give us a love for praying and talking with You. Stop our inefficient habit of worrying, and replace that habit with Your peace and with a new habit of never-ending conversations with You. Thank You for loving us, and thank You for hearing our prayers. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.

God loves us, and He doesn’t want us to worry. So, let’s not. If something is worrying you, please stop where you are, and pray. There is no better time than right now.

Blessings,
Robyn
