Perfect on Its Own

Perfect on Its Own

“Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.” ~Corrie ten Boom.

Whether we are ready for it or not, whether we have selected the perfect gifts for friends and family or not, whether the ham or turkey or Christmas goose is perfectly browned on Christmas Eve or Day or not, Christmas, in all Its glory, IS in three days, and It is perfect in Its own right.

We can prepare, and we can engage in our traditions, but in the end, when we focus on Its true meaning, Christmas is perfect all on Its own. Without detracting from the care and thoughtfulness and great effort that many of us put into our holyday celebration, all of our preparations are mere triflings in comparison to the wonder and splendor of Christmas . . . on Its own . . . without any additions from any of us.

For many of us, this year will be a Christmas unlike any other. Some of us have lost loved ones in the past year. Many of us have had to scale back or cancel Christmas celebrations or traditions. All of us are experiencing something about this Christmas that isn’t quite perfect.

If Christmas is quieter than usual this year, I pray that in the midst of our quiescence, we will find solace and even joy in meditating on the the birth of our Savior, Christ Jesus, God’s gift of Salvation. In the quietest moments of our holyday, let us turn our thoughts to Jesus and thank Him for coming into this world so that we might live with Him in Heaven for eternity where there will be no more tears . . . no more death, and . . . no more sorrow.

Thank you, Lord.

Blessings,
Robyn.
