Oh God, You are My God

Oh God, You are My God

O God, you are my God:
I earnestly search for you.

My soul thirsts for you:
My whole body longs for you
In this parched and weary land
where there is no water.

I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.

Your unfailing love is better than life
itself;
How I praise you!

I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

You satisfy me more than the
richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.

I lie awake thinking of you,
meditating on you through
the night.

Because you are my helper,
I sing for you in the shadow of your
wings.

I cling to you;
Your strong right hand holds
me securely.
Psalm 63:1-11.

Sometimes, lately, since this whole Covid pandemic thing began, I find myself struggling with day-to-day life. Things that used to be simple, like going to the store to pick up milk, have taken on a life of there own.

Why is it that I am always halfway to the door before I remember I need a mask to go inside? We’ve been doing this more than six months now, surely I should remember. Add to that other stressors, like my town being continuously torn up from road construction, and family dynamics changing, and we have a recipe for frustration.

Often I try to encourage others as I would like to be encouraged, but then I worry that everyone else is really going about life as usual, and I am sending out less-than-helpful messages to readers who are not struggling. Then I talk to people and realize that others are also struggling.

When life is challenging times 10, let us cherish the Psalms. David wrote today’s Psalm while he was in the wilderness. I encourage all of us, as we navigate this wilderness of the Covid pandemic, to read the Psalms and make them our prayers.

Blessings,
Robyn.
