Laughing at Our Worries?

Laughing at Our Worries?

“When I worry, I say to myself, ‘This tremendous thing which is worrying me is beyond a solution. It is especially too hard for Jesus Christ to handle.’ Then I have a good laugh.” ~ Corrie ten Boom.

Corrie endured so much, and yet she laughed at her worries. I like that. Many of us feel like we are enduring a fair bit, and many, or maybe even most of us, are. Do we still have a sense of humor, or have we completely lost it? If we have lost our sense of humor, do we have any hope of finding it?

Back in March, which seems like ages ago, we often heard the words “unprecedented times” to describe the time in which we are living. We don’t hear those words as much today as we did in March, but in many ways, our days today are even more unprecedented because whatever made the days unprecedented in March makes them even more unprecedented now because we can add to our situation that we have been living a “crazy” version of our lives for about 9 months now.

Don’t despair, Dear Readers. The same God that makes the snow fall and paints the sky with a unique sunset every night is right here with us in the midst of our “crazyness.” It is going to be ok. He loves us. He cares for us. He wants to hear from us, and He will answer our prayers.

Let us give ourselves permission not to worry. If we can, Let us give ourselves permission to laugh without feeling guilty about it.

Friends, nothing is too big for Jesus to handle. In the midst of the crazyness, let us take our worries and our problems to Jesus in prayer, and let us do our best to leave all of them right there with Jesus.

Blessings,
Robyn
