The Unlimited I am

The Unlimited I am

“Be still, and know that I am {God}! Psalm 46:10. I love this verse. It says everything about God.

It is my understanding that in the original Hebrew scriptures, the verse actually says only, “Be still, and know that I AM.” I like it better that way. Unlimited. I AM.

Anything we write after the word “AM” seems like a limitation. God is unlimited: all-powerful . . . all-knowing . . . all-present.

Whatever we have going on in our lives . . . He knows about it . . . He has power over it . . . He is with us as we go through it.

So, as we head into this weekend, let us find time to be still, and ponder God . . . God in all His unlimitedness.

God is our Rock. He is our Salvation. He is our Stronghold. He is our Light. He is our Comforter. He is our Everything. He IS.

Psalm 46 begins, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!”

As we sit in our stillness and ponder the awesomeness of God, thoughts of whatever challenges we are facing will inevitably creep in, and when they do, let us confront those challenges with the bold spirit of the Psalmist in the verses above, who basically says, “Let it happen, and let us not be afraid when it does because God is our refuge.”

The Psalmist reminds me of an undefeated competitor who looks at his opponent and confidently taunts, “Bring it,” because he knows that he has what it takes to overcome his opponent and win.

Like that competitor, we can boldly say the same thing to our opponent, Satan, “Bring it,” because we know we have what it takes to win the battle. We have the unlimited “I AM.”

Blessings,
Robyn
