Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc) was born in Domrémy-la-Pucelle, France, the daughter of a peasant family. She was later recognized as a national heroine of France, who at age 18, during the Lancastrian phase of the Hundred Years’ War, led the French army to victory over the English at Orléans. A year later she was burned at the stake on the grounds of heresy. She was canonized as a Roman Catholic saint on May 16, 1920, nearly five hundred years after her death.
Born c.1412. Departed for Home May 30, 1431, Rouen, France.
