Holy Spirit Enhances Our Prayers and Makes Them Good Enough

Holy Spirit Enhances our Prayers
and Makes Them “Good Enough”

Holy Spirit perfects our prayers

Pray without worrying whether your prayer is “good enough” for God. It is. The Holy Spirit enhances our prayers and makes them good enough.

Praying when you don’t know what to pray

Do you ever sit before God and find that you are at a loss for words or that you don’t know where to begin? Maybe you’re not sure what you should pray for. Maybe you are not even sure what you are feeling.

We never need to be concerned that our prayers will miss the mark or won’t be quite right because the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf when we pray and perfects our prayers for us. Romans 8:26 says, “[T]he Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

The Holy Spirit and His work seem similar to the “magic wand” available when we edit a photo on our phones. We take a picture, and it isn’t quite right — not exactly what we hoped it would be. Before uploading the picture to our social media or sending it to a friend, we click the magic wand, and immediately our picture is enhanced. Viewers who see the picture after the enhancement see the picture in a whole new light, and they never see the original.

Holy Spirit is ultimate prayer enhancer

The Holy Spirit acts a little like that magic wand and “touches up” our prayers. He perfects them so that God knows exactly what we are trying to say to Him.

By the way, if you are worried about the Holy Spirit messing with your prayer, please do not. The Holy Spirit is God. He can do no wrong, and He doesn’t change your prayers. He simply makes them better and more effective. (The improvement is similar to my niece’s hair salon slogan. “You . . . only better.”).

God hears your heart not just your words

Of course, The Holy Spirit is much more powerful than a magic wand icon, and every time we utter a prayer, He faithfully and perfectly helps us in our weakness to fully and beautifully pray our deepest thoughts and feelings to God, our Father.

So, with the help of the Holy Spirit, even when you don’t know what to say to God, God is able to hear your heart. For example, if you are so overcome with grief because you lost someone dear to you, and your mind feels numb, and you just cannot find the energy to talk, God will nevertheless hear your heart, and He will know exactly what you are feeling because the Holy Spirit will help you and make sure He does.

Holy Spirit improves our prayers. The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

Alternatively, if you see a situation in your life or your child’s life, and you know something is wrong, but you don’t what, and you have no idea how to fix it, you can still come before God and tell Him what you do know. Tell Him something is wrong. He knows the perfect solution. We don’t need to spell it out for Him. He knows.

God knows, but He also wants to hear from you. So, pray, and pray confidently knowing that the Holy Spirit enhances your prayers and makes them good enough.

Pray now even if your prayers don’t feel perfect

Have you prayed yet today? Don’t be deterred by thinking that your prayer will not be good enough. It will be. You have Someone Who will help you talk to God in the most beautiful and eloquent way. Don’t delay. Talk to God now while He is on your mind.
