12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas. When are they? When are the 12 days of Christmas? If we are starting to pull out the Christmas storage crates to pack up everything and put it away for next year, please let us wait a little longer if we can.

December 25, Christmas Day, is the FIRST day of Christmas. The 12 days of Christmas run from December 25 to January 5 and are flanked on either end with the holydays of Christmas Eve and Epiphany.

The 12 days of Christmas, along with Christmas Eve and Epiphany, provide a fortnight or 14 days of Christmas celebration. So, before we feel pressure to get all our Christmas decorations down and put away, please let’s just know that it is ok to continue our celebration of the birth of our Savior for awhile longer.

We have so very much to celebrate. The birth of our Savior, His sinless life, and His sacrificial death allow us to live abundant, earthly lives and eternal, heavenly lives.

In the words of the great Christian apologist, CS Lewis, “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”

Lord Jesus, we continue to thank you today — and everyday — that You came into this world as a Child to enable each of us to become children of God. Thank you for the Hope Your birth, Your sinless life, and Your sacrificial death give us that we will spend eternity in Heaven with You. Amen.

May God bless each and every one of you during this holyday season. May your hearts be filled with the peace and joy that only He can give.
