Don’t Give Up

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9.

Today, I hope you’ll help me celebrate all the people who are doing good and refusing to give up. If you’re doing good and refusing to give up, please tell me what you’re working on. I want to encourage you to keep on, pray for you to keep on, and help you celebrate your keeping on.

Maybe you’re changing diaper number 1000, maybe you’re wading through your 27th year of employment, maybe you’re helping raise your grandkids, or maybe you’re knitting your 20th hat for cancer patients losing their hair to chemo — whatever you’re doing — if God has called you to do it — please do not give up.

Do not give up because at just the right time, we will harvest a blessing — if we do not give up.

If you are like me, we find it fun to start new projects. Everything is exciting. We like to finish projects because we can rest knowing a job is well done.

The middle part of a job? That’s where the work lies and where the wheat gets separated from the proverbial chaff. The glamour of the beginning has worn off; the sense of accomplishment has not yet arrived.

In the middle, we may find it difficult to see the progress we are making. We may consider quitting. We may start comparing ourselves to others and what they are accomplishing, and we may feel we are not doing as much or as well as they are.

Let’s not do that — let’s not quit, and let’s not compare. Let’s stay the course and wait for the blessing that God has promised us we will harvest if we do not give up.
