God’s Greatest Gift
God’s Greatest Gift
As we head into the homestretch of Christmas 2020, many of us will ask and be asked, “Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Have you PURCHASED all of your gifts to give on Christmas?”
Let’s turn that question around and ask ourselves, “Have we ACCEPTED all of our Gifts this Christmas?”
Let’s imagine the person in our life who loves us the most holding out a gift to us this Christmas morning. We are faced with a decision. We can reach out and take the Gift, or we can say, “No.”
How many of us would accept the gift?
Most of us would reach out and take the Gift. The Person offering the Gift to us loves us. We can trust that the Gift will be a good Gift.
The Bible tells us that God gave us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life in Heaven with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. “
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesian 2:8-9). For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17).
Eternal life through Jesus Christ is a gift that must be accepted or rejected. There is no middle ground. It is just like Christmas morning. If we do not accept the gift, then, by default, we have rejected it.
Please know that God loves us more than we can imagine. He is the Author of love and loves us more and better than anyone else possibly can, and He is offering each one of us His greatest Gift of Jesus this Christmas.
So, again, let us ask ourselves, “Have we accepted ALL our gifts this Christmas?”
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I have done many wrong deeds and can never earn my way into Heaven. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”
I pray we will all make sure this Christmas that we have accepted ALL of our gifts — especially God’s greatest Gift of a Savior, His Son, Jesus Christ.
Blessings,
Robyn
