Return to the Lord

A prayer to return to the Lord

A Prayer to Return to the LORD. Psalm 25.

Have you (or anyone you know) strayed from your faith? The Lord wants you back. In 2 Chronicles 30:56-9, we read how King Hezekiah sent runners or messengers throughout all Israel calling to all of them to “Return to the LORD. Don’t be stubborn,” he said, “but submit yourselves to the LORD.”

King Hezekiah’s proclamation continued, “Worship the LORD your God so that His fierce anger will turn away from you . . . For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to Him, He will not continue to turn His face from you.”

Where are you with God today? How is your relationship? If your spouse or best friend had the same relationship with you that you have with God, would your spouse or friend be happy with the relationship? Would he or she feel they were getting enough time, conversation, and devotion from you?

God wants a close relationship with you. If you have never had a relationship with Him or if you have neglected your relationship with Him, I encourage you to read Psalm 25, and make it your prayer to the LORD.

Psalm 25 provides in part, “O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow . . . Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of Your unfailing love, for You are merciful, O LORD. For the honor of your name, O LORD, forgive my many, many sins.” Lead me with your unfailing love and faithfulness.

“I pray that God, the Source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him.” Romans 15:13.
