Prayerfully Enter into His Gates with Thanksgiving

Prayerfully
Enter into His Gates with Thanksgiving

Say thank you

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.” Psalm 100.

Do our prayers about our troubles crowd out our prayers of thanksgiving?

How often when we pray do we remember to thank God and praise Him? If we have a great many troubles on our mind, those troubles may have a tendency to crowd out our thankful thoughts when we talk to God. We may be so burdened by issues in our life or in the life of someone we love dearly that those issues tend to be foremost on our minds when we pray.

Let us remember to say, “Thank you.”

We may need to gently remind ourselves that God wants to hear our words of thanksgiving. Because we are made in the image of God, I often try to draw a comparison between our relationship with God to an earthly relationship between a parent and child. I liken this situation to that of a child who frequently asks his or her parent for something, who frequently asks the parent for help, but who can never remember to say, “Thank you.”

All 10 lepers left without saying, “Thank you.”

If we were the parent in the above scenario, we wouldn’t feel too good about the situation. God is the same way. He wants to hear our words of thanksgiving. The issue was so important to Jesus that He told the parable about the 10 lepers. They ALL left. All of them left without saying “Thank you.” Luke 17:12.

One Returned

One remembered. One returned. One said, “Thank You.”

Let us return to God and say, “Thank you”

Let us each be among the 10% who return to say, “Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, God.” Whether you need to return to God to say, “Thank you” for a gift or help He gave you five minutes ago or five decades ago, return now, and thank Him. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving now.
