Pray in Your Day of Trouble
Pray in Your Day of Trouble
Pray because God says He will deliver you
Pray, and call upon God in your day of trouble because God says if you do, He will deliver you, and you will glorify Him.
Global pandemics, local dam breaks, days of trouble
Living here in Midland, Michigan these last few days, much like the rest of the world, we are still addressing the global pandemic with face masks and efforts to socially distance. Yet, we are now also facing the fallout caused by multiple, local dams and dikes collapsing and breaching. People who are terribly frightened by the thoughts of getting sick with Covid19 are now being required to mingle and live with family and friends and even strangers at make-shift shelters because they cannot remain safely in their homes.
Consequently, I know many who feel they are in the midst of their day of trouble. For each of you, please know that my heart goes out to you, and my prayers go up for you. I pray you know God loves you and cares for you even in the midst of the turmoil you are experiencing.
Our permanent home is a perfect paradise
We currently live in a world where bad things happen, and I don’t intend to minimize your pain, but I do want to encourage you and remind you that we will not always live here. The day will come when we can go Home and live where nothing bad happens. There will be no run-away rivers, breaking dams, sickness, death, divorce, or tear-filled eyes. If we have confessed our sins and made Him Lord of our life, we will live in the perfect paradise He always intended for us.
In this world we will have trouble, but Jesus has overcome this world
For now, we have to face the trying times that we are told are an inevitable fact of this imperfect world in which we currently live. Jesus told us we will have tribulation, but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.
In the midst of your turmoil and difficult experiences, always remember that Jesus told us not to worry about anything and everything. He told us that God takes care of the “birds of the air” and that we are even more important to God than the birds; consequently, we can trust that God will take care of us. Stay steadfast in your faith, and continue to glorify Him.
Reading recommendation
Sometimes when we face really difficult situations, we cannot understand why God is allowing us to face them. We ask God, “Why?” I encourage you to read a book by Anne Graham Lotz with that simple title, “Why?“ I found it to be insightful and encouraging, and I hope it will be the same for you if you are dealing with difficult circumstances and finding it hard to understand, “Why?”
Pray now
Have you prayed yet today? Take a moment. Bow your head. Close your eyes. Shut out the world, and tune in to Him. Pray. Confess your sins. Ask Him to be Lord of your life, and know that if you are in your day of trouble, He promises to deliver you.
