Pray for Wisdom
Pray for Wisdom
Pray for wisdom for ourselves and others
Pray for wisdom, and God will give it to you generously without finding fault. James 1:6.
Rarely does a day go by that I do not pray for wisdom. Wisdom is so much more than knowledge. It combines knowledge with experience and good judgment. Wisdom can save us from a lot of heartache in the long run.
Gaining wisdom from prayer is easier than learning it from experience
Every encounter or event we experience in life has the potential to teach us something and further our good judgment. Sometimes we learn what to do, and sometimes we learn what not to do. Sometimes we learn more from experiences that didn’t turn out so well than from from ones that did, but what if we could acquire the same better judgment just by asking God for it?
God wants to give us wisdom . . . generously
Well, we can, and James 1:5 says that God wants to give us wisdom — generously. Praying for wisdom is one of my favorite prayers. Some prayers are hard to pray, but wisdom is just a good thing to have, and I already know God wants me (and everyone else) to have it. So, let’s ask for it.
I find it especially important today, in the culture in which we now live, when information flows like mighty rivers, to ask God for good judgment and discernment. How do we know which information flow to believe? Wisdom and good judgment sure help.
Pray boldly for wisdom knowing God wants you to have it
How many of us feel like we could use more wisdom? Have you prayed yet today? Be bold. Ask God to give you the wisdom He gave King Soloman.
