Trusting God in the Uncertainty

Trusting God in the Uncertainty

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8.

Sometimes our path takes an unexpected turn — something that has been a constant in our life for as long as we can remember changes. We are thrown off course, and we don’t understand why we are where we are or what is going to happen next. When this happens, trusting God is easier said than done.

Perhaps we feel like we have always trusted God, but then the unthinkable happens — something we never thought we would see happen in our lifetime happens — and God calls us to trust Him anyway.

I recently made a most difficult decision to sell my farm. Four generations of my family have lived there: my grandfather, my mom and dad, my siblings, and my daughter. I was born there. In neither my wildest dreams nor my darkest nightmares did I ever imagine I would sell the place.

I saw my role similar to the role of a lighthouse keeper. I was just the current keeper. It was just my turn, and my obligation was to do my best to care for “The Farm” and to pass it on to the next generation in better shape than I found it.

Without the farm, my future doesn’t seem quite as clear. Trusting God takes on a whole new dimension when everything seems uncertain. Let us keep trusting God in the uncertainty.

Whatever we are facing, let us ask Him to give us the courage to trust Him that He will go before us and be with us.
